As a pre-hospital and general medical care personnel, you may frequently respond
to patients in the acute phase of a cerebrovascular accident (CVA). Your response
has, in the past, been largely limited to providing basic medical care and transporting
the victim to a hospital.
In this course, you will learn to considerably improve the effectiveness of
your response to this type of patient by applying a rapid acute CVA screening
protocol. This will help you determine the need to transport a patient to a hospital
equipped with an acute CVA unit and capable of administering a thrombolytic treatment,
thereby significantly improving the patient's ability to survive and recover from
a CVA.
