O B J E C T I V E S :

This module aims to illustrate emergency situations involving cardiopulmonary arrest and the response techniques learners will require to intervene appropriately during such circumstances. The concepts discussed in this module include: The chain of survival, the ABC of CPR, CPR and foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO) relief techniques for adult victims. Having completed the module, students will be able to recognize the signs and symptoms of heart disease and strokes (CVA), and will also be familiar with the principle risk factors associated with these disorders. Once students have acquired the theoretical knowledge related to these first aid measures, they must then complete the practical training component in which they will be able to apply their knowledge and techniques in a concrete, hands-on training environment.
